Hey everyone!

I recently went through the on-campus internship hiring process for Siemens, and I wanted to share my complete interview experience. Hopefully, this helps anyone preparing for internship interviews.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» About Me
I’m Harshwardhan Patil from PICT, Pune (2028 batch).

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ“ Resume Shortlisting

On April 7, 2026, a Google Form was circulated for applications. Students were shortlisted based on their resumes.

I tried to keep my resume project-oriented and focused on:

  • DSA

  • Web Development

  • Problem Solving

  • Programming Languages

A total of 59 students were shortlisted for the OA round.

After the OA, only 13 students were shortlisted for interviews.

🎯 Technical Interview Round 1 – April 10, 2026
⏳ Duration: Around 25–30 Minutes

The interview started with:
β€œTell me about yourself.”

After the introduction, the interviewer started discussing my resume and projects.

The round was very interactive and discussion-based instead of rapid-fire questioning.

Some of the topics discussed were:

πŸ”Ή OOP Concepts
All four pillars of OOP were discussed:

  • Encapsulation

  • Abstraction

  • Inheritance

  • Polymorphism

Among these, inheritance was discussed in much more detail, including:

  • Types of inheritance

  • Real-life examples

  • Advantages of inheritance

  • How inheritance works in different programming languages

πŸ”Ή DBMS

  • What is Relational Integrity?

  • Difference between Primary Key and Foreign Key

  • How foreign keys help maintain consistency between tables

We also discussed how relational integrity ensures that relationships between tables remain valid and prevents invalid data entries.

πŸ”Ή Programming Languages

  • Difference between C++ and JavaScript

The interviewer mainly focused on logical thinking and clarity of explanation rather than memorized answers.

πŸ”₯ Technical Interview Round 2 – April 10, 2026
⏳ Duration: Around 25–30 Minutes

The second round was also technical and included more coding-oriented discussions.

Topics discussed included:

πŸ”Ή DSA & Coding

  • Add a node at the head of a Linked List

  • Find duplicate elements in an array without using extra space

The coding was done in Notepad instead of an IDE, so the focus was more on approach and problem-solving.

πŸ”Ή Python

  • How is inheritance implemented in Python?

πŸ”Ή Puzzle Question
One interesting puzzle asked was:
β€œCalculate the angle between the hour and minute hand of a clock.”

πŸ”Ή Project Discussion
Questions were also asked from the projects mentioned on my resume, along with discussions about the technologies used.

The interviewer was more interested in understanding:
βœ… My approach to solving problems
βœ… Concept clarity
βœ… Confidence while explaining solutions

⏳ The Waiting Period

The interviews got over quickly, but the waiting period felt much longer πŸ˜…

Finally, on April 21, the results were announced.

And fortunately, I got selected! πŸŽ‰

Only 3 students were finally selected.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ“š Preparation Strategy

For preparation, I mainly focused on:

  • DSA fundamentals

  • OOP concepts

  • DBMS basics

  • C++ fundamentals

  • Resume preparation

  • Project explanation

One important lesson I learned:
πŸ‘‰ Whatever you mention in your resume should be something you can confidently explain.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ’‘ Key Takeaways

βœ… Strong fundamentals matter a lot
βœ… Communication skills are very important
βœ… Projects should be explained clearly
βœ… Practice writing code without relying on IDE suggestions
βœ… Interviews are often discussion-based, not just theory questions

Overall, the Siemens interview process was an amazing learning experience and gave me a better understanding of technical interviews.

Best of luck to everyone preparing for internships and placements! πŸš€
