2. Interview Rounds
Round 1 : Online Assessment
The online assessment covered aptitude, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and coding questions. The coding section tested programming fundamentals and the ability to approach problems logically. Having a clear understanding of the basic concepts and practising aptitude and coding questions beforehand was helpful.
Round 2 : Group Discussion
The GD focused on discussing a given topic as a group. The discussion evaluated how clearly and confidently we communicated, the relevance and quality of the points we contributed, our ability to listen to others, and how effectively we built upon or responded to different viewpoints. The key was to maintain a collaborative discussion rather than turning it into a debate.
Round 3 : Technical Interview
The technical round covered my resume, projects, programming fundamentals, SQL, DSA, C++, and core CS concepts. I was asked questions about the technologies I had used in my projects, along with my approach to debugging and solving technical problems. I was also asked to write SQL queries and solve DSA and C++ coding problems during the interview. The interviewer focused not only on getting the correct final answer but also on my approach, logic, and thought process while solving the problems.
Round 4 : HR + Managerial Round
This round was more scenario-based and focused on problem-solving, decision-making, and handling workplace situations. I was asked how I would handle situations such as tight deadlines, disagreements with seniors, team conflicts, learning a new technology, and troubleshooting technical issues. I tried to support my answers with relevant examples from my projects and previous experiences, explaining how I approached each situation and the reasoning behind my decisions.
Overall, the entire process was a great learning experience, and the discussions with the interviewers were friendly, encouraging, and comfortable, which made it easier to communicate my thoughts and approach confidently.
My biggest takeaway was that strong fundamentals, knowing your resume and projects thoroughly, communicating your thought process clearly, and staying calm during the interview are most important.
I’m happy to have successfully completed the process and been selected for the Graduate Engineer Trainee role at Rockwell Automation.
